Reviewing The Boncharge Red Light Neck and Chest Mask

I recently tried out the red light face mask, from Bon Charge and absolutely loved it. Now I am trialling their Red Light Neck and Chest Mask.

These masks use the power of red light and near infrared light to help improve the appearance of the skin.

I found myself curious about the neck and chest mask because I was having such success with my face, and I was wondering about what other things I could use red light therapy for!

As anyone who attends my clinic would know I also love using red light therapy for the nervous system, and have various devices including the Boncharge red light therapy mini device.

What is a red light neck and chest mask and what does it do?

A red light mask is a skincare device that uses red LED (light-emitting diode) and near infrared light technology to provide various benefits to the skin. The red light emitted by the mask stimulates collagen production, improve blood circulation, and promote skin rejuvenation. It is often used for anti-aging purposes, reducing the look of wrinkles and fine lines, and improving overall skin texture (do you really need me to say more?!).

While different red light devices use different wavelengths and strengths for effect, this type of face and chest mask is ideally used for cosmetic purposes.

You may find higher strength red light devices have been linked to improved mitochondrial health, and of course then there are things like infrared saunas where the heat and IR light together produce biological effects. I find red light amazing at stimulating the nervous system, meridian points and even organs (but this is something I’d suggest you work with an appropriately trained practitioner for and not DIY!).

How do you use a red light neck and chest mask?

It’s easy to use! Just place the mask around your neck, securing in place using the soft cushioned velcro straps.

Let the chest pad drape across your middle chest area. Select your session length and setting using the controller. Choose Red Light, near Infrared Light or both for optimal results.

Bon Charge suggest using it for at least ten minutes, three times a week to see results. You can use it while you are relaxing, watching tv or reading a book!

I would share a photo of me using it.. but I don’t look quite as good as this woman below when I’m slothing on the couch in my PJs! Ha! I prefer to use it just with a bra on but you could also use a low cut top like this image.

What are the benefits of red light masks?

  • Collagen production: Red light therapy has been shown to stimulate the production of collagen, a protein that helps maintain the skin's elasticity and firmness. This can lead to a reduction in the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

  • Skin rejuvenation: The red light emitted by the mask can penetrate deep into the skin, promoting cellular regeneration and improving overall skin tone and texture. It can help to reduce the appearance of age spots, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation.

  • Improved blood circulation: Red light therapy can enhance blood flow to the skin, which can result in a healthier complexion. It may help to deliver oxygen and nutrients to the skin cells, promoting a more radiant and youthful appearance.

  • Reduced inflammation: Red light has anti-inflammatory properties that can help calm irritated or inflamed skin. It may be beneficial for individuals with conditions such as acne, rosacea, or eczema.

  • Non-invasive and painless: Red light masks are non-invasive and generally painless to use. They provide a convenient at-home skincare option without needing to visit a salon.

What are the risks of using a red light face mask?

I personally was concerned with EMF exposure around my head/neck/thyroid while using a red light neck and chest mask. This is the entire reason I actually hadn’t purchased one up to this point in time, until Boncharge reached out to share their product with me.

Boncharge state on their website their product is low/no emf and I love the quality of all their products. But I did still do my own little test, mostly to satisfy my emf curiosity!

In my blog post about the face mask, I share all the EMF readings. You can check it out here

Reviewing the Boncharge red light neck and chest mask

I found the whole process easy and enjoyable. I decided I was ok with the magnetic EMF exposure and began at 10min, 3x a week. I used a few times at the same time as the face mask and while a lot of my body was covered, it didn’t feel too restrictive! It feels comfortable to have on your chest and neck.

I LOVED that the QR code inside the box linked me to a PDF of setup instructions and troubleshooting. With that, it was so easy to charge and set up. The little remote it comes with is simple and straightforward to use.

From using the face mask, I find the redness in my face is reducing and maybe my fine lines are less? I’m definitely gravitating towards wearing less makeup [not that I ever wore heaps] and I’m confident going completely makeup free regularly too. This was NEVER a thing before - as my base ‘tone’ is quite red (I’m sorry to beauty therapists if this isn’t the right description, ha!).

Using the neck and chest mask I’m finding the same reduction in fine lines and wrinkles. I’d say I’ve just reached that age where these fine lines are getting more obvious, and sun exposure is causing that area of the chest and neck to ‘age’. I’m not necessarily anti-aging, but if I can have smooth skin with something as simple as red light therapy, I’m not going to say no!
